The Training Methods of International Competitor Maggie VesseyFebruary 6, 2012 Maggie Vessey (born December 23, 1981) is an
American professional athlete who competes on the international circuit
in the 800 meter run. Vessey attended Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo where she won the Big West Conference 800m championship twice and was the silver medalist at the 2005 NCAA National Championships. She finished 5th in the 2008 US Olympic Trials in the 800m at a 2:02.01 clocking. In 2009 she won the Prefontaine Classic with a time of 2:00.18 in defeating 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Pamela Jelimo. Later that season she won the Herculis meet in Monaco with a time of 1:57.84 and was named to the U.S. team for the 2009 World Championships where she was eliminated in the semi-final round running 2:03.55. Returning as a member of the U.S. World Team in 2011 in the 800m, she finished 6th at the World Championship with a time of 1:58.50 in the finals. Vessey is currently sponsored by New Balance.
