3-Class Track Gets Nod
By virtue of the following IHSA announcement 3 class track is here to stay, at least for the current moment. In the absence of further action, the failure to include Proposals 10, 11 and 12 onto the annual referendum ballot by the IHSA Legislative Commission affirmed the pending implementation of 3 class track next season.
IHSA AnnouncementsNovember 27, 2006 Legislative Commission Votes to Place 6 of 15 Proposals on Annual Referendum BallotSix of the 15 proposals submitted to change the Illinois High School Association Constitution and By-laws were placed on the annual referendum ballot by the Legislative Commission at its second meeting Monday (Nov. 27) in the IHSA Office. A total of 34 of the 35 commissioners attended Monday's meeting. Following are the proposals on the 2006 IHSA annual referendum: No. 5, 6 (as modified), 7 (as modified), 8, 14, and 15. The others were rejected by the Legislative Commission. (The text of the original proposals is available in a PDF document.) The ballot containing the proposals will be available online to IHSA member schools in the IHSA Schools Center on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The deadline to submit the online ballot is midnight, Friday, Dec. 29. The ballots will be tabulated and the results posted on Thursday, Jan. 4. A simple majority of votes cast on each proposal will determine whether it passes. Proposal No. 6 was modified by its submitter prior to the Town Meetings. The final wording is as follows:
